Dredge ran a hand through his hair as he sat against the wall of the inn. He took a meager amount of funds with him, and he wasn't sure how he would afford the fare to get to the mainland. Ever since the fiasco back in his hometown, he kept a low profile concerning his powers and focused more on what he learned growing up. Specifically, mixing together salves and ointments. Unfortunately, the market seemed more focused on buying magical potions than normal remedies, and he found himself without a viable source of income. Maybe he'd try to cut into that market someday, but for now, he'd either have to find some other kind of work he could do, or find a town or village that didn't have access to the magical concoctions.

In the meantime, there was no harm in being prepared. Having gathered numerous herbs and roots, he sat in the back of the main room of the inn, mixing together various salves for pain, scars, and treatment. Even if he couldn't sell them, he might find need of them, should something bad happen. They weren't near as effective as any of the potions on sale, but those ran about twenty times what he could normally expect to earn back home on a good day. No, this town wasn't for his wares. At least, not yet. Putting a few powders aside, Dredge began measuring some of the more precise amounts needed for the recipes.
